Short before sun set
we have again visit from a dolphin family, which stay with us a long
time.
At 03:30 in the night the activity of the volcano Stromboli is visible.
Sometimes the activity is larger and it is a great spectacle. At the
same time there is a thunder storm at Italian coast.
ISOLA DI LIPARI:
5.5. 11 8:55 Lipari
In the morning at 6 oclock we pass Panarea and at 8oclock we are near
Lipari. At 8:55 we are in fishing harbor of Lipari Marina Corta, which
is full with local fishing boats and go alongside at the end of the quay.
We have time to go to the small village and to buy bread and vegetables.
At 12:00 3 additioanal fishing boats arrive and we must leave our place.
As Ceyhun is in town, we go alongside of the 3rd boat in the 4th row.
After Ceyhun is back we want to leave towards Strait of Messina. By
freeing the lines Ceyhuns eyeglasses fall into water. Ceyhun tries
several times to dive to the ground however he cannot find his glasses.
At 12:30 we collect the lines and move out. Our target is the small
fishing harbour Bagnara Calabra at the Italian coast close to Strait of
Messina. Weather is good, partly cloudy, wind 5 to 10 nodes.
BAGNARA CALABRA:
5.5.2011 17:20 we arrive the small harbor Bagnara Calabra. There are now
three new pontoons for yachts at the south east part of the harbour,
mooring lines, toilets and showers. A forth pontoon is under
construction.
45 Euros for a 12m yacht.
Town center is 15 minutes walk. At our pontoon we meet a German group of
8 sailors from Bodensee on a charter trip and an English pair, who live
in Summer in Fethiye and are also underway towards Fethiye.
6.5.2011 at 7:30 we continue our trip towards strait of Messina with the
aim to arrive Roccella Ionica in a distance of 80 miles. It is again
partly cloudy and the wind is coming from front through the Strait of
Messina.
We pass Strait of Messina close to the Italian main land coast. Between
Messina and Villa S. Giovanni there are a lot ferry traffic.
The rest of the way we stay close to the coast by light winds.
